A Siemens OXYMAT 5F is an industrial oxygen gas analyzer—a piece of instrumentation used to continuously measure the concentration of oxygen (O₂) in a gas stream.
What it is
The OXYMAT 5F is part of Siemens’ process gas analysis equipment.
It is specifically an oxygen analyzer/controller unit used in industrial and laboratory environments.
What it measures
It measures oxygen concentration (% O₂) in a sample gas. [labx.com]
Typical measurement ranges can vary, but examples show spans such as a few percent O₂ up to higher concentrations, depending on configuration. [rivercityi...strial.com]
How it’s used
The OXYMAT 5F is used for:
Process control (e.g., combustion efficiency in furnaces/boilers)
Safety monitoring (detecting oxygen levels in potentially hazardous environments)
Quality control in chemical or manufacturing processes
Lab or pilot plant gas analysis
General characteristics
Accepts a continuous gas sample flow and outputs a signal (e.g., 4–20 mA) for control systems
Requires a reference gas (often air or nitrogen) for calibration
Designed for industrial environments (rated enclosures like IP65 are common)
Important note
The OXYMAT product family (including later versions like OXYMAT 6) typically uses paramagnetic measurement principles for oxygen—this is a standard method because oxygen is strongly paramagnetic compared to most gases.
✅ In simple terms:
A Siemens OXYMAT 5F is a device that continuously tells you how much oxygen is in a gas stream, commonly used in industrial processes for control and safety.
If you want, I can explain how the paramagnetic measurement actually works or help identify parts/operation of your specific unit.
