Description

Gunner's Quadrant M1, a precision leveling instrument primarily used during World War II to measure and set the elevation angles of artillery weapons.

Portable clinometer used for "laying" (aiming) artillery pieces in elevation and measuring their existing elevation angles.
Leather case included marked "38-8-26". Additional painted marking TK-3-3.

Scales: Features two scales measured in mils (a military unit for angles).
• Black Figures: Usually ranges from 0 to 800 mils on one side.
• Red Figures: Often used for angles from 800 to 1600 mils on the reverse.

Components: It consists of a frame, a movable arm with a spirit level (bubble level), and a micrometer knob for fine-tune adjustments.

Applications: Beyond standard artillery, it was used with mortars, anti-aircraft guns, and to harmonize aircraft guns (like those on the B-29) with their sights.

Date: The marking "1942" on the plaque identifies its production year during WWII.
