1998 Jeep Cherokee SPORT UTILITY 4-DR, 4.0L L6 OHV 12V. This vehicle is in decent (but dirty) shape considering it's been in City service for the solid waste and recycling departments for 28 years. It has a Chrysler 4.0 straight-6 engine and a 4WD transmission. This vehicle runs and is drivable. However, there is something wrong with the electrical system: the battery has been replaced twice, and the alternator is new, yet it still loses battery charge. City mechanics added a switch to disconnect the battery when the vehicle is not in use. This keeps the battery hot, but it is inconvenient as it is located under the hood. The exterior is white with City decals and has the expected dents, dings, and scratches. There is a dent in the front bumper, torn trim on the passenger side, peeling paint, and the rear door shocks are almost gone. The interior is gray cloth and gray carpet. Both are dirty. The overhead is coming loose. The vehicle has power steering, windows, and door locks, but the door locks don't work. The passenger side window won't roll down. The stock AM/FM radio works. We don't know if the cassette player works. The heat blows warm air. The AC was cool, but not cooler than the outside air on the spring-like day when I checked it.
