Condition: Poor
This lot consists of two (2) PinBone Wizard fish pin bone removal machines, each housed in its own custom wooden shipping crate.
This lot has been rated as being in poor condition due to both units exhibiting known issues. This is due to one of the units showing damage on the front panel and the other having written on it "damaged incomplete." Both of the crates have "prototype" written on the crates. Meaning both units may be incomplete, inoperable and are not guaranteed to match units on the public market.
The PinBone Wizard was designed by the University of Alaska Fairbanks and manufactured by Freeman-Bell in Juneau, Alaska.
The PinBone Wizard was developed for removing pin bones from salmon fillets and is intended for small-scale fish processing operations. According to information provided by the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the machine is capable of removing approximately 180 pin bones per minute and can process a salmon fillet in approximately 7 to 10 seconds, compared to an average manual processing time of approximately 25 seconds.
Each machine is housed in a custom wooden shipping crate believed to be constructed from plywood panels with solid wood framing and supports, although the exact wood species has not been confirmed.
The two crates differ in their closure methods. One houses a hinged lid, with a latch for the lock, while the other lid is secured using four screws.

These PinBone Wizard units may be suitable for restoration, parts recovery, research, educational purposes, or other compatible applications as determined by the successful bidder. Because both units have known condition issues, have not been tested, and one appears incomplete while the other has visible damage, bidders should assume that significant inspection, repair, and/or replacement of components may be required before either unit could be placed into service. Bidders are encouraged to review all photographs carefully to assess the condition of both machines, the shipping crates, and the included components, and to determine their suitability for the intended application prior to placing a bid.
