The temporary school building was placed on the grass lot to the West side of the existing school at Rock Valley Community School, 1712 20th Ave, Rock Valley, Iowa.
The buildings (auction lot) contains the following:
• 8 classrooms measuring approximately 500 square feet each
• 1 Women’s Restroom with 5 toilet fixtures and 3 lavatories
• 1 Men’s Restroom with 3 toilet fixtures, 2 urinals, and 3 lavatories
• 1 Unisex Restroom with 1 toilet fixture and 1 lavatory
• 1 Staff Restroom with 1 toilet fixture and 1 lavatory
• 1 Supply Room measuring approximately 238 square feet
• 1 Storage Room measuring approximately 120 square feet
• 1 Common Area gathering space measuring approximately 989 square feet
• 1 Office measuring approximately 227 square feet
• 1 Reception Area measuring approximately 68 square feet
• 1 Mechanical Room measuring approximately 134 square feet
• Egress and circulation corridors and areas
Buildings are approximately 15 feet high. The 7,000 square foot modular building is currently set on a foundation with utilities connected. Modular components were transported via flatbed truck. A crane is typically required to lift and position modules into place (a crane was used to place at the current location). The modules secured together using bolts or other fastening systems, to form a cohesive structure. Finishing work (sealing joints, installing exterior siding, roofing, and interior finishes, is completed). Disassembling a modular school building for relocation involves reversing the placement process. Utilities (electricity, water, sewer) are disconnected, and any site-specific features, like exterior ramps or landscaping, are removed or disassembled. The building is divided back into its original modules. This requires removing interior and exterior finishes (e.g., siding, roofing connections) and unbolting or detaching the modules from each other and the foundation. A crane is typically required to lift the modules off the foundation and onto flatbed trucks for transport. The size and weight of the modules (often steel-framed and substantial, as in DSA-approved designs) necessitate heavy lifting equipment. The modules are loaded onto trucks and transported to the new site or stored if not immediately relocated, taking precaution to protect the modules during transport to prevent damage. Any bidder requiring technical expertise will need to coordinate independent consultant support - hired by and at the expense of the bidder.
Removal of the buildings by winning bidder is expected to be completed no later than April 29, 2026. The State will not provide any warranties as it pertains to the structure, express or implied, and the State will not warrant title to the structure.
Real property is not included in the sale.
