For Auction is a FormLabs Form 2 SLA 3D Printer. The FormLabs Form 2 "Abstracted Gull" is a specific high-detail 3D model often used as a demonstration piece for the Formlabs Form 2 SLA 3D printer. The model features intricate, sweeping geometries and thin, organic surfaces that showcase the printer's ability to handle complex overhangs and fine resolution without losing structural integrity.
Features and Capabilities
Geometric Complexity: The design consists of thin, interlocking wings and a hollowed-out "skeletal" frame that transitions between sharp edges and smooth curves.
Demonstration Purpose: It is frequently used to highlight the Form 2’s 25-micron layer thickness and its precision in rendering sharp, brittle support material that can be removed with minimal scarring on organic surfaces.
Design Challenges: The model tests the printer's ability to handle horizontal overhangs (which are typically discouraged beyond 3 mm without supports) and maintains detail in vertical structures.
Printing Specifications
Layer Height: Most often printed at 50 or 25 microns to ensure the "abstracted" curves appear seamless rather than stepped.
Material: Commonly printed in Standard Grey Resin for high contrast, which makes the intricate shadows and "abstracted" details more visible.
Support Strategy: Because of the model's delicate wings, it requires precisely placed "light-touch" supports generated in the PreForm Software to prevent warping during the peeling process.
The Form 2 3D Printer powers on. The Printer has not been tested further than what is documented with the included media. The Printer shows cosmetic wear such as scuffs and grime. Removal
Property may be removed by appointment only and appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. After paying for your auction you can make your make your appointment by going to our bidder porthole and registering with our system. You will then have access to our calendar where you can make your appointment, Hours of pickup are Monday-Friday 8am to 3pm. (close for lunch from 12pm to 12:30pm) We are closed on all University Holidays.
Items will not be released if buyer fails to make an appointment.
All items must be removed within ten (10) business days from the time and date of issuance of the Buyer's Certificate.
The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, including packing, loading and transportation of the property. Pallets or containers that items are on or in are not included. No Assistance will be provided. Any item left after the 10 day limit will be relisted, buyers will be subject to GovDeals policies.
Purchaser is solely responsible for the loading and transportation.
The University disclaims all liability for injury or property damage associated with this purchase.
The University of Iowa Surplus Department does not provide or prepare items for shipping (except for certain clothing items) however there are local companies that will prepare and ship items from our location.
If items are shipped at your request by paying for the shipping you are agreeing that assets are sold as is, where is and without warranty. Once the asset is removed from the seller's premises there is no refund of monies previously paid.
If you are contracting with a freight company,
DO NOT LIST UI SURPLUS AS THE SHIPPER.
You must list yourself (the buyer) as the shipper (we would be considered the destination).
Any bill of ladings with The University of Iowa or our staff members as the shipper will be denied. ALL T-FORCE SHIPMENTS WILL HAVE TO BE BE SCHDULED THROUGH THE LOCAL UPS STORE OR WILL BE DENIED
