Custom-built interactive museum exhibit titled “Snowball Race,” previously displayed at the Van Gogh 360 museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The exhibit demonstrates the principles of gravity, acceleration, velocity, friction and track geometry by allowing participants to race balls down two differently shaped tracks and observe which reaches the finish first.
Features include:
- Two side-by-side wooden race tracks
- One primarily straight descent profile
- One curved descent profile
- Hardwood and layered plywood construction
- Detailed wooden trestle-style support structure
- Manual lever-operated starting gate
- Clear acrylic ball guides
- Mechanical finish-area stopping pads
- Aluminum-framed mobile base
- Heavy-duty swivel casters
- “Snowball Race” educational identification and instructions, if shown
The exhibit is designed for hands-on use in museums, science centers, schools, libraries and other educational environments. Racing balls or spheres are included only if specifically shown in the auction photographs.
The starting gate and track components appear intact but have not been extensively tested for this auction. The seller does not guarantee that both balls will release simultaneously or that all original educational and operating components are present.
The exhibit shows signs of public use and storage, including scratches, scuffs, dents, dust, finish wear, loose hardware and possible damage to the track, acrylic guides or stopping mechanisms. Casters and brakes have not been individually tested.
Any buyer intending to place the exhibit into public use must inspect it for stability, pinch points, choking hazards, sharp edges and other safety concerns before operation.
Buyer is responsible for providing all labor, padding, moving equipment and transportation required for removal. Exact dimensions and weight should be verified before bidding.
Sold as-is, where-is, with no guarantees or warranties.
