Columbia Public School District (CPS) is seeking a bids for the sale of a roughly 28 ½ ft long X 11 ft wide and 12 ft high. Accessory Dwelling Unit or tiny house/outbuilding. The unit was built by the Geometry in Construction class at Battle High School. The tiny house is roughly a 313 sq. ft. and is intended to have one bedroom, one full bath and a combined living room and kitchen. The house is 35½” inches off the ground. It was design to slide a trailers underneath it. The deck detaches.
Please note: transportation of these units are very expensive. Buyers from previous years have reported transportation costs exceeding $10,000.00 (although that was a slightly larger unit). If removal is not completed within 10 business days, the asset will be deemed abandoned and all funds will be forfeited. Pictures attached.
NOTE: *Bidders are responsible for final measurements and are encouraged to visit the site to field measure* Bidders are encouraged to obtain a price estimate from movers before submitting a bid. It is understood and agreed that there shall be no warranties, expressed or implied, as to the condition, fitness for a particular use and/or warranty or merchantability of the items. This unit will be sold on an “As Is” and “Where Is” basis.
A $500 refundable deposit will be required. The refundable deposit shall be a separate transaction from the purchase price, in the form of a cashier’s check made payable to Columbia Public Schools, sent to: Columbia Public Schools -Purchasing Department, 1818 W. Worley St., Columbia, MO 65203. The refundable deposit must be received by the District within 7 working days of award of the bid or the item will be forfeited and resold. The check will be returned upon the following condition being fully met: Satisfactory removal by the specified date.
The winning bidder will be responsible to provide their own trailer to move unit. It is the responsibility of the buyer to coordinate removal and they will be the sole point of contact with the District. The District will not work with third parties. Removal can begin as early as August 6th and ideally would be removed no later than August 14, 2026.
A certificate of insurance is to be furnished prior to work proceeding. The purchaser further understands that there is not a title to the property. All items must be removed within the time period specified. The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, including packing, loading and transportation of the property. All cost associated with the pickup is the responsibility of bidder. Property may be removed between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 3:00p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays unless noted otherwise in the asset description. A daily storage fee of $10.00 may be charged for any item not removed within the removal period. Transfer of ownership occurs once the unit has been removed from the District.
